How to Donate
At the Perley Rideau, we are dedicated to
providing excellence in resident care, but your support is the
key to making it happen. Each year, donations from generous
supporters like you are directed towards the purchase of
essential items.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed
to the Perley Rideau
Foundation in 2007 and helped fund the following:
• $125,700 funded Creative Arts Services and
continued to provide our 200 community residents with arts
and crafts, music and dance therapy.
• $15,000 helped maintain the bursary and education fund for
our staff.
• $50,300 was used to purchase new furniture and equipment
like bedside tables, lifts, tub chairs, blinds in lounges
and towel warmers.
• $20,000 subsidized transportation services so more people
could attend the Day Program.
• $3,000 was used to support the Summer Youth Program for
young people who come to the Centre to volunteer and help
our residents.
• $80,000 was used to refurbish activity rooms and outside
patio areas to create a more home-like atmosphere.
• $5,000 was used for recreational activities such as a
shuffle board, movies, plays and entertainment.
• $4,300 was used to purchase a commercial ice water machine
for residents.

Priority Needs for 2008
By renewing your support for 2008 today, you
will be helping the Foundation ensure that the best resident
care is always available for your family, friends and loved
ones.
This year, your generosity will allow us to
carry on the tradition of excellence by providing us with the
funds for the following:
• Enriching Lives: $130,760 will help us
continue to provide residents with much appreciated
recreation activities including arts and crafts, theatre,
concerts, music and dance therapy.
• Leadership in Caring: $15,000 is needed to maintain the
education and bursary fund. By investing in life-long
learning for our staff, they will enhance their skills and
stay at the forefront in caring.
• Equipment and Furnishings: $60,000 will be used to replace
four specially equipped baths, $20,000 will help refurbish
four dining rooms $33,000 will allow us to replace the rest
of the bedside tables; and $15,000 will purchase a movie
screen and projector so residents can enjoy watching movies;
$54,000 will be spent on purchasing nine commercial ice
water dispensers for use in our dining rooms.
• Outdoor Improvements: $90,000 is needed for improvements
to the inner courtyards in the Rideau and Ottawa residences;
$66,000 will be used to widen entrances to the Ottawa and
Gatineau and cafeteria entrances providing more room for
entering and exiting with electric wheelchairs and scooters.
• Enhanced Services in the Community: $20,316 will provide
subsidized transportation services for clients affected by
dementia to attend the Day Program. The cost and
availability of transportation is one of the major barriers
for clients to attend Day Programs; $3,000 is also needed
for the Summer Youth Program to support young people who
come to the Perley to help residents with activities and
events.
Your kindness and generosity are sincerely
appreciated.
