Priority Needs for 2009

By renewing your support for 2009 today, you will be helping the Foundation ensure that the best resident care is always available for your family, friends and loved ones.

This year, your generosity will allow us to carry on the tradition of excellence by providing us with funds for the following:

  • Enriching Lives: $130,760 will help us continue to provide residents with much appreciated recreation activities
including arts and crafts, theatre, concerts, music and dance therapy.
  • Leadership in Caring: $15,000 is needed to maintain the education and bursary fund. By investing in life-long
learning for our staff, they will enhance their skills and stay at the forefront in caring.
  • Equipment and Furnishings: $60,000 will be used to replace four specially equipped baths, $104,000 will replace 26 older beds, $49,500 will be used to increase the number of security cameras, $27,000 will purchase 4 lifts designed to help transport our residents; $10,500 will purchase cushioned floor mats designed
to prevent falls, $11,080 will be spent on purchasing two commercial ice water dispensers, $200,000 will be used to renovate the nursing sub-stations, and $5,000 for a master colour scheme to provide a calming effect for our residents.
  • Outdoor Improvements: $100,000 is needed for improvements to the inner courtyards in the Rideau and Ottawa residences.
  • Enhanced Services in the Community: $25,000 will provide subsidized transportation services for clients affected by dementia to attend the Day Program. The cost and availability of transportation is
one of the major barriers for clients to attend Day Programs; $3,000 is also needed for the Summer Youth Program to support young people who come to the Perley Rideau to help residents with activities
    and events.
